While visiting Washington D.C. with a group of Mayors from across the U.S., El Segundo Mayor Drew Boyles had the opportunity to visit the Uzbekistan Embassy.

According to he United States was among the first countries to recognize the independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The diplomatic relations were established on February 19, 1992, and the first Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the United States of America opened in February, 1993.
